Pumpkin Seed Oil is rich in beta-sitosterol, a plant sterol shown to inhibit 5-alpha-reductase—the enzyme that converts testosterone into DHT, a primary cause of pattern hair loss (Gossell-Williams et al., 2006). When applied to the scalp, it helps reduce follicle miniaturization and supports stronger, denser hair growth.
Packed with linoleic acid, zinc, and antioxidants like vitamin E and carotenoids, it nourishes the scalp, strengthens hair structure, and protects follicles from oxidative stress (Stevenson et al., 2007; Murkovic et al., 2004).
Although the 2014 clinical study by Cho et al. demonstrated oral supplementation led to a 40% increase in hair count, these findings support Pumpkin Seed Oil’s mechanism of action, which may also be effective when applied topically (Cho et al., 2014).
